Acetyl-L-carnitine, or "ALCAR", is broken down to carnitine in the blood and then used by the body to transport fatty acids into the mitochondria for breakdown--thereby aiding in the process that delivers energy to your cells. It is found in food but most prevalent in meat, and beef in particular. ALCAR is often taken as a supplement by brain hackers and bodybuilders alike for its potential to promote focus and energy and reduce depression, anxiety and fatigue.*
